[I don't really know what to put here. How do I decide what's important and what isn't? So I'm shamelessly going to borrow from a project the kids at my work are doing.]
My name: Jacquelyn
My age: 20
My hair: Is brown
My eyes: Are two different colors. The left is green, the right is blue.
My favorite...
Season: Fall and Spring
Book: Ohhh, so many :) Neverwhere, Good Omens, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Jane Eyre, The Kite Runner, All of Rilke's poetry, Great Expectations, The Phantom Tollbooth, LOTR, I am Regina, Duchess of Aquitaine, Cat's Eye, The Robber Bride, A Brave New World, Neuromancer, Fahrenheit 451, The Giver, Gathering Blue, Speak, You Don't Know Me, Language in Thought and Action, East, What Happened to Lani Garver, The She, Crime & Punishment, The Life You Save May Be Your Own, The Journey and the Dream, Beautiful Miscellaneous, A Mango Shaped Space, Til We Have Faces, Desire of the Everlasting Hills, Nightfall & Other Stories, Welcome to the ARK, So Yesterday, The Uglies 'trilogy', The Blue Sword, The Wild Magic series, Earthsea series, pick any play by Euripides, Glass Menagerie, Alice in Wonderland, The Constant Nymph, A History of Disease...I should stop before I'm here all night.
TV show[s]: Criminal Minds, NCIS, House. I watch a few others occasionally, but those are the ones I know really well. Others: Bones, SPN, the CSIs, Law & Order, Lie to Me, Leverage, Babylon 5, Dark Blue, Star Trek, Dr Who/Torchwood...I know there's more shows I dabble in, but they escape thought.
Band: Anathallo, hands down.
Class: This semster? Organic Chemistry. Lecture, not lab--working with dangerous things makes me nervous, especially since it's traditionally a male-dominated class and they don't stock acid-resistant gloves small enough to fit my hands.
Kind of music: Indies, classical, jazz, anything including hand drums, and a little bit of everything else except country.
Things I'm interested in: Dinosaurs, psychology, body language, foreign languages, linguistics, mythology, ethics, medicine, alternative medicine, botany, gaming, cooking, crafting, art journals, knitting/crocheting, making lotion and soap, candles, rocks [geology], sign language, philosophy/theology, world cultures, where science meets art, scientific art, "sacred geometry" [minus the new age stuff--so maybe just math], bookbinding, historical world cultures as they apply to literature [especially religious literature], theoretical and applied physics/chemistry/biology and all their points of intersection [I happen to believe that the dividing lines between our sciences are completely arbitrary. For that matter, so are the dividing lines between all the intellectual disciplines. Think about it long enough and you'll probably understand what I'm saying--the further you progress in a field of study, the less distinct those lines become], seashells, stuffed animals, making fleece hats with animal ears. And, uh, those are mostly current--I've had many more come and go, and I've included some, but I can't remember all of them! Things like dolphins, wolves, German fairy tales, hymns, cathedrals, the history of dyes and paints, Hebrew/Greek, word etymology...there's a lot of information I've accumulated over the years.
Some things that really annoy me are: Well, sensory overstimulation in general, and I've a lower threshold than most. People being catty. Drama. Hypocrisy. Hatred. People who won't admit their mistakes and fight over stupid things. Lids that won't close properly. Not being able to get my words to mean what I want them to. Being misunderstood. Freezing up under pressure. Pop quizzes. Greeting card envelopes, because how are you supposed to open them without touching the slobbery part? Netspeak.
What a good day is like: I am able to articulate my views and contribute to discussions. I don't embarrass myself. No one looks at me like I'm a freak. No one hurts me, or ignores me, or looks down on me...and no one does those things to others around me, or hurts the people I care about. I learn new, exciting things or see something beautiful. I am able to help someone or make them smile. I'm not made to feel inferior. Things are quiet and warm and cozy. I get to spend time with people I care about in a setting I like.
What a bad day is like: pretty much opposite of the above.
My current job: before/aftercare at an elementary school.
My dream job: Ha, probably working in a think tank somewhere or being a college professor who gets paid to do research :) My realistic dream job? Medicine. Accordingly, I'm a premed Biochemistry major in my second year of college.
During a week day, you'll usually find me: At work by 7 am, then driving to campus for class, then at work again until 6.
During a weekend, you'll usually find me: In my room, or with my family, or with my friends. Sometimes at the park, or the library, or running errands. Sometimes taking tests when I don't have time during the week.
